ULTRA RARE WINCHESTER EXTRA LIGHT WEIGHT MODEL 94 CALIBER .30 WCF DELUXE TAKEDOWN RIFLE WITH PENCIL BARREL. MADE IN 1897! WILL LETTER. SERIAL NUMBER 85258. ANTIQUE - NO FFL REQUIRED!
Now here’s a rare one for you. This rifle came from the factory with one of the rarest special order features offered by Winchester: a 26 inch extreme taper lightweight “pencil” barrel. It is also a takedown model. The stock and forend also have deluxe features – capped pistol grip and checkered wrist and forend. It has a crescent steel buttplate. We have the data sheet from the Cody Firearms Museum and it will letter as a takedown, extra light. It originally had a rubber shotgun butt but it went back to the factory in 1905 and perhaps that is when this was changed. Unfortunately the gun has been refinished. All the metal has been reblued and the left side of the receiver has been drilled with 2 holes for a scope mount. All in all, it’s not a bad job but it just never should have been redone. The wood is free of dings and dents. It might have been sanded just a tiny bit but it’s not at all bad. This is such a great rifle that you might just send it out to someone like Doug Turnbull and have him do a number on it. Even with its faults, it’s still a very rare piece and you’re not going to have to pay $5,000 or 6,000 dollars for it.
